HAYES k-8
Overview
Hayes K-8 is seeking dynamic and innovative partners to deliver programs that inspire student creativity, build ownership of their learning environment, and foster excitement for school. We invite proposals from qualified teaching artists and organizations to collaborate with us in creating a vibrant, engaging, and culturally responsive arts education experience for our students. We are open to proposals for 4-th-6th grade programs in any art form, including visual art, music, theatre, dance, creative writing, and media arts, along with their respective subdisciplines.
Key Program Requirements:
Student Ownership and Creativity: We are looking for programs that empower 4th-6th grade students to create lasting works of art, such as murals, permanent installations, or other lasting works that enhance their connection to their learning environment and build their imagination skills.
Excitement and Engagement: Programs should demonstrate, document, and be designed to make students enthusiastic about attending and remaining in school and contributing to a positive and engaging school atmosphere.
Accepted Program formats:
Early Starts: All proposals must include programs that have the commitment and autonomy to start promptly in the fall (September) and/or spring (January) semester without any delays due to supplies, payment, or other factors. Upfront payment requests cannot be accommodated.
Arts Integration and Academic Support: High priority will be given to multi-week artist-residency programs that integrate arts into the curriculum and align with academic standards. Applicants may propose programs for one or multiple grade levels from 4th to 6th.
After School Programs: Multi-week after school programs or clubs are also a priority. These programs should be approximately 6 weeks long, focus on building imagination skills, and be available at least 2 days per week, excluding Fridays.
Dependability: Programs must demonstrate a strong commitment to dependability, consistency, and cultural responsiveness. Partners should possess the ability to adapt to evolving needs of our school, schedules, and students with resilience, independence, and grace.
Cultural Responsiveness: Programs must be inclusive and respectful of diverse cultures and identities, recognizing the varied backgrounds of our student body.
Statement of School and Student Needs: “Our students are very, very smart and intelligent. We need partners who can fundamentally see and affirm our students and their ability to succeed and achieve. We want school to be a place to where they can witness their own academic, social, and creative growth despite the needs and challenges they face outside of school.”
Hayes K-8 will accept proposals in amounts: $0 - $5,000.00 for one-semester long arts integration residencies. Comprehensive artist residency programs that span two semesters and expect rich longitudinal outcomes may submit proposals up to $10,000.00.
Proposal Deadline: All proposals must be submitted by June 23, 2024.
